BLOCKCHAIN AND TANGLE: THE TRANSACTION SECURITY IN THE IOT ECOSYSTEM

Resumo

This article examines the level of security ensured by Blockchainand Tangle technologies when performing transactionsin the IoT ecosystem, especially considering the informationintegrity. To this end, analytical models and simulationsare employed to investigate fraud scenarios in which an attackerattempts to modify transactions already recorded inthe databases. The results suggest that Tangle technology ismuch more promising, as it proves to be more competitive inscenarios where potential attackers have outstanding computationalprocessing power. In addition, Tangle technologycan deliver scalability that is not observed in the Blockchaintechnology. In this context, the main contribution of thisarticle is to provide subsidies for the development of realapplication projects for the IoT ecosystem
